NAME systemd.kill − Process killing procedure configuration. SYNOPSIS service.service, socket.socket, mount.mount, swap.swap, scope.scope. DESCRIPTION Unit configuration files for services, sockets, mount points, swap devices and scopes share a subset of configuration options which define the killing procedure of processes belonging to the unit. [Service] Type=forking User=root Group=root ExecStart=/usr/sbin/asterisk -f ExecStop The problem is that nothing goes wrong with the Asterisk process, but Systemd keeps killing it every 300 seconds and then restarts it.

We use systemd to start up Cassandra/Kafka, and to shut Cassandra/Kafka down nicely. Since systemd is pervasive in all new mainstream Linux distributions, you can see that systemd is an important concept for DevOps. We wrote this little example to try to understand how systemd dependencies work, and explain it to others.
Anything longer, and systemd will force the service to close down and report a failure. Oct 23, 2017 · Notice the “Drop-In” section, which tells us that systemd knows about the new config file we added, and the Main PID line, which indicates that systemd knows which process to monitor. We can test this config by force-killing the service in question: sudo kill -9 6412.
